Dear Families,

Bluewater District School Board is dedicated to the inclusion of all students but acknowledges the right of parent(s)/guardian(s) to request that their child(ren) be exempted from instruction related to the Human Development and Sexual Health expectations found in strand D of ‘The Ontario Curriculum: Health and Physical Education, Grades 1-8, 2019’.

Administrative procedure AP 7522-D “Exemption from Instruction in Human Development and Sexual Health (for students in grades 1-8 only)”, available on the board website at www.bwdsb.on.ca and posted below, provides additional details regarding the exemption process.

Please read the curriculum expectations, specific to your child’s grade (1 to 8) which are attached below. If you have any questions, and/or would like to request an exemption, please contact the school office. The deadline to request an exemption for the current school year is January 21, 2021.

Sincerely,

Cathy Griffin

Principal, Egremont

2021-2022 School Year Important Info
Please check for updates regularly

Important Information for Returning to In-Person Learning

We hope that you are as excited as we are!

  • It is very important that students, or a parent/guardian on behalf of a student completes the daily COVID screener every day before coming to school.
  • Masks are mandatory for students in grades 1 through 12.  Extra masks are very handy so that students can swap them out if they become soiled.  Please no buffs or gators. We have extras on hand if needed.
  • Students will wear their masks inside, but may remove for outside play.
  • Physical distancing is still a must.  This means that our classrooms are set up to promote physical distancing, and there are many routines in place, such as physically distanced line ups, staggered hallway travel, visual cues such as markers on the floor and signs.
  • Hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette play a very significant role in keeping all of us healthy and safe.  Students will be washing their hands or using hand sanitizer multiple times throughout the day - - upon entry, before and after using shared items, such as a playground ball, before and after eating, before and after the washroom, before and after recess play and at the end of the day.
  • When inside, students remain with their cohort, and physically distance within the cohort.
  • When outside, students must continue to physically distance.

Other Important Considerations

  • If your child walks to school, please talk with them about arriving between 8:40 and 8:50. Remind them to line up on the sidewalk before our driveway ( 6’/2m apart).  A staff member will be at the driveway to supervise entry.
  • Drop off: Please enter our bus loop AFTER the 4th bus has entered.  After the busses depart, please pull as far up the sidewalk as you can.  Then the students may exit vehicles onto the sidewalk.  There will be a staff member there to meet the students
  • All bus changes must be communicated to the office prior to 2:30 – call the main office (519) 334-3640 ext 100 or by sending a note to school.
